1886-1908 Second Sibley Breaker |
Pyne, Taylor
(Was part of Old Forge till 1916)

LAWRENCE COLLIERY Old Forge
(Actually in Newton Ransom) |
1908-1916 Third Sibley BreakerThe two above photos of the Sibley are from
different sides. The top 1886, from the right or
west, the bottom 1906, from the left or east.
The breaker was three times built on the same
foundation. This gives a unique, never seen view
of coal region structures, that are over 100
years old. Can you spot the men in the windows
of the 1886 top photo? |

PHOTO
BY JOHN ANGELI AFTER THE KNOX MINE FLOOD
In this photo, the miners are in
front of the Knox Mine Slope. They have just
returned to the surface. They were searching for
the bodies of the miners killed in the flood.
The hole in the river has been sealed and the
mine pumped out enough to allow search a search
team in. From left; first is Fred Costanzi,
second is Steve Brek, third is John Angeli, Old Forge. If
anyone knows the names of the other miners
contact us, and we will add their names here
also. |
